The Role This pivotal Senior Station Hand position is based primarily at a secondary block, approximately 1 hour from the main property. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the comprehensive, day-to-day operations of the Coolatai block, looking after a mob of 1,000 head of agistment cattle alongside 500 to 800 dry trade cattle. This independent role is balanced by the expectation of working collaboratively at the main property for 2 or 3 days each week. Key duties are centred on all aspects of low-stress cattle handling, diligently implementing a structured rotation-grazing system, and actively assisting with the ongoing development and creation of additional smaller paddocks. The operation prides itself on being modern and progressive, having invested heavily in brand-new infrastructure—including all fences, yards, water systems, and piping—installed within the last four years. Mustering is primarily conducted using a modern fleet of motorbikes, though applicants are welcome to utilise their own working horse; furthermore, the property leverages modern technology, including drones, in its operations. The Employer The employer is a highly modern, progressive, and certified organic beef operation that runs approximately 5,500 Santa Gertrudis cattle across its properties. Dedicated to efficient grazing management, the business has made substantial investments in its infrastructure, including installing new fences, yards, water systems, and pipes over the last four years. This commitment to efficiency includes a clear, ongoing plan to create further smaller paddocks specifically for rotation grazing. The Senior Station Hand role provides a valuable balance, offering a high degree of operational independence complemented by collaborative teamwork at the main property. The Offer The employer is offering a highly competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience. As part of this comprehensive package, the successful applicant will be provided with a work vehicle and fuel. Accommodation is a recently renovated, high-quality four-bedroom home, making this an excellent opportunity suitable for either a couple or a family looking for a rural lifestyle. The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and experienced Senior Station Hand eager to take ownership of a remote block while contributing to a forward-thinking, high-input grazing enterprise that embraces modern infrastructure and technology. Proven expertise in cattle management on well-equipped, high-infrastructure properties. Ability to work autonomously on a remote block independently and integrate with the main team. Competency with motorbikes for mustering, with the option to bring a working horse. Strong skills in rotation grazing and a readiness to use technology such as drones.
